Story of 2020

So, 2020 was a bit weird wasn’t it?

Just like everyone else it was a strange old year for Three Hills Sports Park so we thought we’d give you a quick run down of what happened to us.

January & February – all was going well, all our winter season sports were in full flow and we’d had some great evenings in the bar with functions and sport on the TV’s including the Premier League and Champions League.

March – at the drop of a hat all our winter sports had to stop due to Government and National Governing body guidelines.  Everyone knew a lockdown was coming and in preparation for that we set up the Folkestone Community Hub.

April – June – we were busy running the Community Hub with our army of amazing volunteers doing everything from shopping & picking up prescriptions to arranging meals on wheels & walking dogs.

July – a little glimmer of normality appears and we start to see sport return to Three Hills.

August – we actually got half a cricket season (ish) in!  It was great to see so many people enjoying the warm weather while watching the cricket and treating themselves to a few takeaway treats from the bar.

September & October – the hockey and football seasons start, if slightly delayed and we went in to what is normally our busiest time of the year.  It was lovely to see our pitches full again and competitive sport being played over the weekends and the bar being used in a Covid safe manner.

November – back into a mini lockdown and the hub, which has been running the whole time, ramps up again.  We still manage to have some outdoor sport running which was of great relief to many children, and their parents!

December – the sudden appearance of tier 5 in mid December threw all of our plans up in the air once again with lots of phone calls and emails bouncing back and forth between us and our many lovely clubs.

Who knows what 2021 will bring….
